Saskatchewan's REDAs

  • REDAs established between 1993 and 1999 in Saskatchewan.
  • REDAs are voluntary, non-government, legal entities whose membership is principally local governments, Aboriginal groups and businesses.
  • REDAs are a "grass roots" approach to economic development.
  • REDAs bring people and communities together to collaborate and co-operate on plans for economic development based on natural trading areas.
  • REDAs link the resources, talents and strengths of their regions to support the creation of wealth and jobs, and to attract new investment.
  • There are 28 REDAs in Saskatchewan.

REDAs are the primary partner with government for economic development in Saskatchewan:

  • Regional Economic Development Authorities (REDAs) Initiative was introduced in Saskatchewan's Partnership for Renewal economic strategy in 1992.
  • REDAs are a key component of Saskatchewan's Economic Action Plan.
  • REDAs receive cost-shared funding, training and mentorship support from the provincial government.
